Accommodation in Geel
Independent accommodation
The Accommodation Office will try to help you find accommodation.
- Single furnished rooms in lodgings are let in houses in Geel. Residents share a kitchen and most of the time a bathroom (with shower). The prices of the rooms vary between € 150 and € 300 a month.
- Renting a furnished flat is more expensive: € 300 to € 500 and difficult to find.
Please have a look at the list of rooms available. In the middle of the academic year it is sometimes difficult to find accommodation, so the accommodation office will have to check if students , who are themselves abroad, can pass on their rental contract to international students.
Unfortunately, this list of rooms available is not in English, but you will be able to understand the price range (minimum prijs – maximum prijs), distance to KHK (gelegen binnen een straal van ….km rond de campus) , see some pictures (toon fiche). It will give you an idea of the type of accommodation.
How to reserve accommodation
Please fill in the applicaton for accommodation and send it to the accommodation co-ordinator (myriam.appels@khk.be) at least 2 months prior to your arrival if you want help in searching accommodation. As soon as all students have sent in their choice, she will get in touch with you and give you the address and all the details of your accommodation here.
Rental contract
Before you come to Belgium, you can already take a look at the rental contract. It specifies the amount of the rent, the payment dates, the effective period of the contract and the house rules that you are expected to observe. On your arrival the international coordinator will ask you to sign this contract.
Students are required to pay a deposit of 250 euros at least three weeks before arrival. The purpose of the deposit is to cover the cost of any damage you may cause. The entire deposit will be refunded to you on completion of the contract period. You are required to leave the room in a clean state before you leave.
Bed linen and bicycle
Will you be renting a student room during your stay in Geel? Perhaps you didn’t have enough space in your suitcase to bring a duvet or a pillow? Your student room is furnished but in most cases there will be no bed linen! Student Services Geel offers you an easy solution. You can indicate on your application for accommodation if you want to buy a duvet and pillow. You still have to bring your own sheets and pillowcase. If you want to rent a bicycle you can also indicate that on the application for accommodation.
