What’s in it for me?

ECTS is a decentralised system based on the principle of mutual trust and confidence between the participating higher education institutions. Three important documents are used to reinforce this mutual trust:

• the information package: provides general information on the host institution.
• The learning agreement between the student, home and host institution, describing the programme of study abroad.
• The transcript of records, which shows the learning achievements of the student prior to and after the period of study abroad.

These documents are used by the institutional and departmental coordinators appointed by each institution to deal with the administrative and academic aspects of ECTS.
