Regulations

Staff and students are registered with their staff identification card or with their matriculation cards respectively. These cards are also used as readers’ cards. External users are registered with their identity cards. After registration they get readers’ cards.

Number of items
Each reader may take out five volumes at most at any given time, three of which can be video cassettes.

Loan period
The maximum loan period for most documents is three weeks. The maximum loan period for video cassettes is three days for students and two weeks for KHK staff. The loan period can be renewed if the documents in question have not been reserved by other students. If the loan period has not been exceeded, a renewal of the loan period can be requested by phone or email (balie@khk.be).

Costs
If you exceed the due date of a document, you will be fined € 0.50 every new week. The fine for a video cassette is € 0.50 every new day.

Barring exceptions and as long as lending fees are not imposed by the government, the HIK.MED service is free of charge.

External visitors pay an annual membership fee of € 12.50. Secondary education students are charged a special rate of € 5.

If you lose a library card (this includes the matriculation card and the staff identification card), you have to report this at the counter of the library immediately. Until you have done so, you remain responsible for any transactions made with your (lost or stolen) library card. A new card costs € 2.00.
